What Cody Armstrong Pierce has contributed to my riding and the development of my horses is truly unmatched.”
I cannot recommend Cody Armstrong Pierce highly enough. I have been a client of hers since July 2019, and throughout my career as an adult amateur dressage rider I have trained with several highly respected professionals. What Cody has contributed to my riding and to the development of my horses is truly exceptional.
Cody has worked with three of my mares: an experienced FEI horse as well as two young mares I imported as four-year-olds. From refining a seasoned FEI partner to developing young horses from the very beginning, Cody brings an extraordinary level of skill, insight, and feel to every stage of training. She has a rare gift for shaping the minds of both horses and riders, always in a thoughtful, positive, and confidence-building way.
What truly sets Cody apart is her unwavering commitment to horsemanship. Her program goes far beyond a typical training structure. There is no rigid time limit on lessons or training sessions—each horse and rider receives exactly the time, care, and attention needed to progress correctly.
Her attention to detail is exceptional, whether it involves physical conditioning, technical development, mental preparation, or building lasting confidence in both horse and rider. While Cody is an accomplished dressage competitor with an impressive show record—including with my own horses—her greatest strength is her dedication to developing happy, confident horses and riders through correct, thoughtful training.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have Cody as such an important part of my riding career. Her influence has played a significant role in the success of my horses, and I am deeply grateful for her guidance, expertise, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

I was incredibly fortunate to be introduced to Cody shortly after she relocated to the Charlotte area.
Early on she impressed me, and many, with her riding skills, her intuitive way with horses, her efficient
barn management, her communication and leadership skills, and her business acumen, but it was when I. had the opportunity to take lessons from Cody that I encountered her rare gift.
Cody is that hard to find trainer that is not only a talented rider herself, but who also has a keen desire for you to become one as well. Cody wants you, and your horse, to be the best you can become. Cody’s lessons are thoughtful. They are designed for where you are in your training and to help you meet personal goals. The instruction is clear. Explanations are provided for proper implementation of the exercises, and where there is a lack of understanding, either on the part of the horse or rider, the time is made to “get it right”.
Cody cares about her clients, suggesting web sites with valuable training information, sharing
observations of the client’s horse and where it might benefit from either a vet, farrier, or saddle fitter
visit, and suggesting training and/or show schedules to match the goals of the client.
I will ever be thankful to Cody for her desire to pass along the skills of classical horsemanship that when mastered bring rider and horse into an exquisite partnership. As an “older” adult amateur I am especially grateful to train with a trainer of Cody’s caliber, and to have had her amazing support during several of my horse’s medical setbacks including one lasting 9 months. Whether bringing your horse to Cody for training, or training with her yourself, count yourself as among the fortunate. She is among the best.
